Sharing Beyond Books #25 December 3, 2011

Hello all - Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books!  It's Saturday evening and I am slipping this in as I have company (my sister and one of my nieces) visiting.
Thank you for commenting last week.

We had a pretty mixed group on favorite mythologies. Lots of two and three votes and some couldn't pick and scottsgal avoids them. :-)  Ricki had the unique pick with Australian myths.

I guess we all enjoy the hops to some extent but we all agree it takes too long to enter. Krystal is the most industrious to get through most of the list. I hope you won something. I actually won a two blogs. One was Birgit's after she was sweet enough to send an email reminding me to enter hers too! LOL Thanks again Birgit!

WEEK #25 Questions

Q1. This week I picked mamabunny13's Q which has two Qs:  [A] A lot of people associate holidays with food but what is your ALL TIME favorite anytime meal and how often do you get to indulge?

[B] Okay, I also have to  know what your favorite holiday dish is :D??
A:  I think I have to go with a tie for my ALL TIME Favorite meal ... and anytime meal and how often don't go together for this one for me. Now my two favs are often served together but it is hard to eat that much anymore. My favs? Filet Mignon (rare!) and lobster tail with melted butter. So okay - a Surf and Turf photo works!  It seems I only get this about once a year - at least the lobster part. The filet I get maybe three times because my DH will buy them or my Dad loves to serve them or we'll eat out at a good restaurant once in a while.

B. My favorite holiday dish? Still thinking...Okay I will choose Sand Tart Cookies since I love them and they remind me of my mother.

Q2. I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas but you might celebrate another seasonal holiday like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Twelfth Night, Boxing Day, Ephipany or maybe something else. If you are from "downunder" do you celebrate Christmas now which is your summertime? I would like to know what is your favorite decoration for the holiday that you celebrate this month??

A:  I had to think about this and decide between the Christmas lights and the Christmas tree.  I chose the tree because that includes lights and ornaments that I love. :-)
This was last year's tree which actually did not have some of my favorite ornaments but Heather helped put it up when I was too busy so it was lovely for that thoughtfulness.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question FormAt the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)

Your turn to share:

  1. 1. My favorite regular food would have to be pasta which I do have at least once a week. For holidays, I would have to say mashed sweet potatoes (unless Christmas cookies count!).
    2. I am currently working on making a wreath out of ornaments. I have never owned a wreath before, but if this turns out well, I know it will be my favorite decoration. I also have a handmade stuffed Christmas penguin that my husband bought me last year that sits on the mantle and he is awfully cute!

  2. 1. ALL time favourite would be Roast Lamb with all the trimmings. Spring lamb is delicious right now.
HOLIDAY favourite is a dessert: my Mother's Port Wine Trifle. Don't eat & drive.

    2. We have a beautiful Christmas Angel that sits on the top of the Christmas Tree. She tends to topple, as if she had been into my Mother's trifle, so she receives a lot of attention straightening her up.

  4. 1A-My favorite anytime meal is T-bone steak, baked potato and a Caesar salad. I try to have it at least every other month.
1B-My favorite holiday dish is my mother's fried sweet potatoes.
2-My favorite decoration is my Christmas tree. It's pretty big and I love to load it down with lots of ornaments/decorations. (about 500!) One year I held a contest where you had to guess the amount of ornaments and the winner got a prize! My next contest will be find Waldo if I can ever find a Waldo ornament! lol

  10. OMG, I totally agree with Scottsgal. Every single thing about it and the food I love. Of course the full meal is once a year with variations at Christmas but we do have a turkey at least once more throughout the year.
My favorite holiday dish is a Thanksgiving one and it's mashed potatoes mixed with mashed turnips and cream and butter. Delicious and it wouldn't be Thanksgiving in out family without it.

It's definitely my tree. Love the ornaments and the lights. It's my favorite decoration of all.

  11. 1. My fav food is pizza, hands down. As to the holidays, well, does gingerbread count?

    2. I had to think about that one as I've got so many Christmasy knickknacks and it's hard to pick one favorite. Hmmm ... I think that candles in general are my fav decorative items for the season.

P.S.: You're welcome, Martha! Hope you got the cute onesie for your grandchild :-) as it's super cute!

    2. Err....Christmas tree with loads of pressies under them and twinkly lights? No candles allowed sadly.
