Sharing Beyond Books #52 Comment Giveaway June 9, 2012

Welcome to SBB! Look - we are at week #52 - we've been sharing for a year!!
Did everyone have a good week? We had a wonderfully relaxing week on our four day cruise to Nassau.I didn't get to do any internet visiting but the reading was good.
Thank you to all who commented last week.

I love learning what books everyone loves and were touched by. I know many of the wonderful books but others were new to me and perhaps I will read them some day. :-) It is nice to see Mad Moose Mama back in the comments!

I was rather surprised that most of the graduation celebrations seemed to be low key. I guess we are not a big party crowd...all of us bookish people. :-).

The Winner from SBB #51 comments is: #8 Elizabeth L. There are still 7 'love' books to pick from and 2 Christmas choices. Elizabeth please choose a book (or GC if international) from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway, remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, OR pick from the ARC box and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #52 Questions

Q1.  Faith Hope and Cherrytea asks a perfect question for me this week:  Do you read when you travel? if so, do you take books to read?
or do you take an ereader??

A: I LOVE to read when we travel!! Yes I take some pictures too but I read while DH drives and I read on my Kindle or listen to audiobooks on my MP3 when I can on trips. There is lots of reading time during a cruise. :-) I did take a print book this trip as it was due for review this coming week.

Q2. My question: What is your form of Alarm clock??

A: My DH is retired and really doesn't like any alarm. I use my cell phone under my pillow on vibrate but it still rings as an alarm. And I love snooze which my DH hates! During the cruise we did fine and didn't miss an alarm at all. :-)

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is being replenished!  Thanks for sending in questions!   Questions in May were contributed by mamabunny13, Sarah, Margaret and Abby. The random.org picked winner is Sarah - Sarah please pick a book or GC if you are international and let me know through the winner form link above.

Your turn to share:

1. Faith Hope and Cherrytea asks a perfect question for me this week:  Do you read when you travel? if so, do you take books to read?

  1. 1) I always have to have books whilst travelling. My travelling is by car in Sri Lanka itself and apart from having books with me I have a couple extra at my destination to tide me over till I return to Colombo.

    2) Alarm on cell phone!

  2. 1. When I travel, I travel. The only things I might read are road signs so I don't get off track. But seriously, I used to at least take a book with me on long flights, but I can't read with all that hustle and bustle around me, so I'm not doing this anymore. And as I'm usually out and about when I travel abroad I simply don't have time to read then either.
If on the other hand we're talking about a short trip to a spa, that's different. I won't do more than just soak in the thermal water, go for long walks and read in the shade of a big tree. Ah, the good life!

    2. I have an radio-controlled clock with a life of its own. Usually it behaves and will wake me at the right time, then the "signal" will fail and jump to some random time and ... long story short, a few weeks ago that darn thing woke me at 2 in the morning. Let's just say my ability to curse in coherent sentences works perfectly fine in the middle of the night.

  4. Congrats winners. WTG !
I have been known to bring a print book when I fly.I don't own an E-reader yet.
My alarm as much as it bugs me is my own clock. :) It doesn't matter when I go to sleep because I always just wake up by myself at almost the same time everyday. I think I'm stuck in kid mode. When my 7 were little I always had to wake so early and it just stuck. And they have their own families now. GFC name is Lucky47.

  5. 1. I do read when I travel, but tend to take paperbacks. I know it's silly, but I worry about my Kindle being damaged.

    2. If we need to set the alarm we set 2. I tend to buy the old style wind up alarm clocks you get from hardware stores. They last forever, no batteries, make a big racket & most importantly - not affected by power outages.

  6. 1. I love to read while traveling and usually can get so much accomplished sitting in an airport or when I am not driving. I'll usually take two physical books for review and then my ereader for some fun reads.
    2. I have a regular old clock radio for an alarm clock. It's actually pretty old - one that I would constantly "swap" with my parents when I was little.

  11. I don't travel but if I did I would take my kindle, print books and magazines. I hate to think I wouldn't have enough variety to keep me entertained.

I set an alarm 7 days a week even though I have been disability retired for 14 years. My DIL thinks I am nuts but I love to start my day early. I may take a nap during the day for 15-30 minutes but so what, I'm old. Who cares. I love the peace and quiet of the early morning. I get more done and it cooler so I can walk my little old dog before the heat sets in.

  12. I travelled to BEA last week and took my ereader and loaded some audiobooks on my phone. I only listened and read during travel, but I couldn't imagine going anywhere with some form of book.

I have a 3 year old. That is all the alarm I need.

  13. I take books with me just about everywhere. It's a definite must when I travel. I usually take both printed books as well as ebooks: talk about covering all contingencies!

My handphone doubles as an alarm.

  15. 1. No eReader for me. It depends on the length of my travels. Short, no point bringing a book since I am the type who goes out from day to night (during travels) but long ones, definitely bring a book!

    2. My handphone alarm. I don't have a clock anymore.
