Sharing Beyond Books #32 Comment Giveaway January 21, 2012

Hello again SBB fans! Welcome to Saturday --- Sharing Beyond Books!

Thank you for commenting last week.
You guys did a great job of thinking of good occupations! Travel reporter or travel host would offer fun as would being a bookstore owner. Marybelle thought of Guardian Angel which is great choice! Now Louisa - I suppose a mental patient might have free time but I think I would worry about medication and treatment! :-0

I think favorite authors was the biggest influence on purchasing. Price was next. Covers, blurbs and even reviews are factors too. And Mystica has more difficulty than most of us because she has to choose when books are available.

The Winner from SBB #31 comments is: #4 lag123 (another commenter new to SBB!) There are still 9 'love' books to pick from, 3 Christmas choices and 2 Summer titles below. lag123 please choose a book from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway or remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, the one summer book below OR pick from the ARC box and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #32 Questions

Q1. This week Mad Moose Mama asks:  What do you wear to bed??  Are you a PJ's, nightgown or naked sleeper??
A:  When I was first married (many years ago) I wore slinky nightgowns. But for the past many years I wear warm pajamas if the bedroom is under 68 degrees (outside below 50) or a night T-shirt if it is warmer. One of mine is an Eeyore looking out of bed at a plateful of cookies saying "I woke up on the right side of bed!"  I couldn't find a picture so I choose this one.

Q2. Here is my question: Do you have a preference for short or long chapters??
A:  I really do prefer shorter chapters because they tend to be well focused on a point and they let you read quick bits if you only have a short time without stopping in the middle of something.  Some authors who really use short chapters are James Patterson, David Baldacci and Margaret Atwood. Do you know other authors who use short chapters?

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question FormAt the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is getting low so feel free to send in a Q or 2 or 4! Remember they don't all have to be book related. I'm going to be asking some other questions soon!

Your turn to share:

  1. 1. Ha, what a question! Alright, time to spill the beans - in winter I am all for fleece pj's, and in summer I go au naturel :-D!

    2. Hmmm ... it really depends on the book! Eg when it comes to mysteries I like them to have shorter chapters, but the longer the book the longer the chapters may be without me getting cranky.

  2. 1. Usually t-shirt and PJ bottoms.

    2. No preference for short or longer chapters as long as they keep my interest!

    2:the lenght of chapter doesn't bother me it can be short or long it's really doesn't matter. When i'm completly in a story i'm reading without checking the chapters^^;;

  4. 1. In Summer I wear a light cotton nightie - short & in Winter I wear a T-shirt & sweat pants. Not glamorous, but certainly comfy & snuggly.

    2. I had not thought about this before. So, I guess it stands to reason I don't have a preference.

  6. 1. I wear a tank and boxers to bed, even in winter. My husband likes to laugh because I'll say I'm going to put on my pjs but really put on a t-shirt and pj pants, then right before I get into bed I change into my real pjs.
    2. I love short chapters. Long chapters are ok, but only if they have a lot of breaks. I do like having natural stopping points so I can pick up a book and read whenever I get a chance, which may only be a few minutes, so short chapters or lots of breaks help.

  7. I too gave up slinky nightgowns. I wear pajama pants/shorts and tshirts now.

  9. In winter it's long pajama bottoms and a t shirt and summer it's shorts and a tank top to sleep in.

I like short chapters. I may not have time to read a long chapter and hate to start one if I can't finish it. But with the short ones, I just keep going longer.

  10. I wear PJ's mostly when it is warm out sometimes I wear a nightgown. I see your point on the short chapters being more on the point. I would say short chapters work better for me because I usually read on my breaks and lunches at work. That way i would come to a stopping point easily.

  12. 1)I'm definitely a Pj's gal!

2)I prefer short chapters. It feels as though you get through the book faster (perhaps this is just in my head lol) and when I have to put down the book I like to end starting a new chapter. I hate leaving it in the middle so if they are shorter it helps to do this.

  14. I wear a t-shirt and either fleece pj bottoms or capri yoga pants, depending on the season. I have to have my shoulders covered to sleep, and my son still wakes up so much that I need to be able to get up and get him without fumbling for bottoms.

Chapter length doesn't really matter to me one way or the other.

  15. Congrats to winners.
When I first married I too wore nice slinky nightgowns or not lol
Then the kids came and I sore nice comfortable pajamas. Maybe that's what I should have started with before the 7 kiddos came. lol

I never really paid attention to them being long or short unless it became boring to read. I mean with someone like Diana Gabaldon with Outlander I love the characters and History so much I kind of expect her chapters to be long. But really, I never thought about it as long as I enjoyed my reads. Si in that respect I guess I've been lucky :)GFC name is Lucky47.

  16. 1. I technically sleep in pj's. I have this ratty t-shirt, and sometimes add a long sleeve, and then some old pants that are nice and comfy. Comfort/warmth are the main factors :)

    2. I like both. Short for mystery/thriller, like Dan Brown, and longer for romance and pretty much everything not suspenseful :)

  17. I wear two piece pajamas. Most of them are from Victoria's Secret and the Gap. I don't a preference between long or short chapters.

  18. 1. I'm a t-shirt and shorts kind of person.

    2. No preference either though it must be relevant to the structure or what the author is trying to do with the story.

  19. I wear a short sleeve nightgown year round even in Chicago winters - I hate being too warm at night.

Love those short chapters by James Patterson (my fave!)

  20. 1. Always pyjama. Well, sometimes nightgown... really rarely :P
    2. I prefer short chapters, they're easier to navigate since I often have to pause reading (school - bus - etc...)

  21. 1. I don't care how long or short a chapter is as long as it's interesting.
    2. I sleep in a big tshirt that I took the scissors to and made it a v-neck :D

  22. 1. I like the big Ts and shorts since I live in a tropical country. But I do like having my double blanket and socks! Weird right! I don't do the dresses for now.

    2. Err...I guess it depends on the storyline? Some are better short, some long as they're too interesting to end! So I like both really.
